This two page stampless folded letter was written in the mid 1840s (no year date but based on 6 cent rate mark we know it was this timeframe) by Charles H. Silman - a prominent early attorney and one of the founders of HYDE PARK, Pennsylvania - and sent to Chester Tuttle, publisher of the Luzerne Democrat Newspaper in Wilkes Barre, PA. | |
Letter gives a detailed explanation of a new farming operation - how the barns and other infrastructure will be built, raising taxes to pay the road and school taxes, grain that will be grown, etc. Not dated except for Apr. 2, but the mid-1840's based on postage on address portion. |
