At the left is a letter written January 2, 1940, by the second pastor, J. F. B. Griesemer. In part he wrote: On this the 25th anniversary of the first service held in this edifice, I greet you heartily.Click the image at the left to read the full letter. In 2020 there was still a building on the corner of Prospect Avenue and Willow Street that had been a church, but had been modified for other uses. The church was a member of the General Synod, Reformed Church in the United States. A booklet of the Nineteenth Triennial Session, 1917, is available on Archive.org at THIS LINK. If you do a search for Scranton, you will find the church mentioned. The entry on page 104 is especially of interest, "Rev. Aaron Noll, missionary of our Second Church, Scranton, Pa., died suddenly in July, 1914." |
